Since 2019, Kindred Box has distributed over 273,000 donated ostomy supplies, preventing more than 50,000 pounds of medical waste from entering landfills.

Every day, people in America go without ostomy supplies because they can’t afford them. The mission of Kindred Box is to change that. 

What is an ostomy? Ostomy is a medical term that generalizes three main types of lifesaving surgery. People of all ages undergo this lifesaving operation for various circumstances, and their ostomy can be permanent, long-term, or temporary. The reasons include cancer, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, injury, birth defects, and more. After ostomy surgery, a person must wear a pouching system (e.g., ostomy supplies) to collect waste that exits the body through an opening in the abdomen called a stoma.
